SmartGames IQ Puzzler Pro Review
Reviewed from the manufacturer's published specifications and the arithmetic on them. We have not used it, and we say so.

The short answer
SmartGames IQ Puzzler Pro publishes 120 challenges across 2D and 3D modes, 12 puzzle pieces, a challenge booklet with solutions, and a compact board with a transparent lid that doubles as the case, single player, rated 6 to adult. The published adult ceiling is unusually honest.

What we can tell you, and what we cannot
We have not played it. No lab, no samples, no test children, and no star rating on this page or in its structured data.
Published challenge counts, formats, contents and age ranges we can report and compare. How well the lid holds pieces in a bag, and how hard challenge 118 actually is, we cannot.

What the numbers mean in practice
Twelve pieces and 120 challenges is a good ratio. The difficulty comes from arrangement rather than from adding components, which is why the box stays small while the ladder stays long.
2D and 3D are different games. Flat challenges are about tiling; pyramid challenges add a third axis and are noticeably harder. The published 120 spans both, so the ladder is steep at the top.
Solutions included is the anti-abandonment feature. Most puzzle games in this category ship answers; the ones that do not lose children permanently at the first genuinely hard challenge.
Nothing runs out, nothing needs power. The only limit is how many of the 120 get solved.
Who should skip it
A child under six. The published floor is 6 and grid-fitting is abstract. Rush Hour Junior at 5+ is more immediately readable.
A child who wants something to happen. Nothing lights up and nothing falls. Circuit Maze and Gravity Maze both publish 60 challenges with a physical payoff.
Two children sharing. Published as single player, with one board and one set of pieces.
Where it sits
IQ Puzzler Pro appears in STEM games for one player, logic puzzles compared and small STEM gifts that travel.

1. The product
SmartGames IQ Puzzler Pro
SmartGames · SG455 · maker rates it 6+
A wide published age range, included solutions, and a board that is its own travel case.
- Challenges
- 120, across 2D and 3D modes
- Contents
- Compact board with a transparent lid, 12 puzzle pieces, challenge booklet with solutions
- Players
- 1
- Batteries
- None
SmartGames publishes 120 challenges across 2D and 3D modes, 12 puzzle pieces, a challenge booklet with solutions, a compact board with a transparent lid, single player, rated 6 to adult.
The board being the case is the design decision that makes this work away from a table. Nothing needs laying out, nothing is lost between sittings, and a half-finished puzzle survives being closed and reopened.
The included solutions matter more than they sound. A child who gets genuinely stuck on challenge 90 with no adult who can help will otherwise put the box away permanently. A solutions booklet turns a dead end into a hint.
“6 to adult” is also an unusually honest published range. The later challenges are hard, and most manufacturers would have capped the number at twelve.
Replay signal
- Open-ended or one-shot
- Finite, but 120 challenges is roughly double what most single-player puzzle games ship with
- Does anything run out
- The booklet ends. The pieces do not
- Room to grow
- The same 12 pieces run 2D and 3D challenge sets, so the difficulty ceiling is well above the entry point
Why we say so: SmartGames publishes 120 challenges across two modes from a single 12-piece set. Twelve pieces generating 120 published problems is the best challenge-per-component ratio of any logic game on this site, and it is the reason this one travels well and lasts.
What’s wrong with it
Twelve small pieces in a car is twelve pieces to lose.

Kanoodle

- Puzzles
- 200+
- Formats
- Two — flat 2D puzzles and 3D pyramids
- Pieces
- Connected-bead puzzle pieces
- Players
- 1
Educational Insights publishes 200+ puzzles across two formats using connected-bead pieces, single player, no batteries, rated 7 and up.
If the child is seven or over and confident, Kanoodle is more puzzle for the money. At six, or where nobody can help when they are stuck, IQ Puzzler Pro is the safer buy.
Replay signal
- Open-ended or one-shot
- Finite, but 200+ published puzzles is the largest count on this site
- Does anything run out
- Nothing runs out; the booklet is long enough to feel endless
- Room to grow
- 2D first, then the 3D pyramid set, which is a genuine step in difficulty
Why we say so: Educational Insights publishes 200-plus puzzles across 2D and 3D formats from one small case. Two hundred is roughly three times what a typical single-player logic game ships with, which is why this one survives a long car journey and a wet week.
What’s wrong with it
Rated 7+, a year later, and no solutions booklet published.

3. The one for five
ThinkFun Rush Hour Junior
ThinkFun · 76583 · maker rates it 5+
40 challenges with a physical sliding-vehicle format that reads instantly.
- Challenges
- 40, easy to expert
- Contents
- Ice cream truck, 15 blocking vehicles, 40 challenge cards, travel bag
- Players
- 1
- Batteries
- None
ThinkFun publishes 40 challenges from easy to expert, an ice cream truck with 15 blocking vehicles, a travel bag, single player, no batteries, rated 5+.
Below six, the sliding-vehicle idea is far easier to grasp than fitting shapes into a grid. It is the right first logic game and a short one.
Replay signal
- Open-ended or one-shot
- Finite — 40 challenges
- Does anything run out
- The cards end; the grid does not, and children invent their own jams
- Room to grow
- Steps up to the full Rush Hour at 8+, same idea with harder cards
Why we say so: ThinkFun publishes 40 challenges across four difficulty tiers and a travel bag. Forty single-player puzzles is a school holiday, not a year — which is the honest framing for a gift-buyer.
What’s wrong with it
The shortest published ladder in the category.

- 20
- Attributes
- Four shapes across three attributes
- Includes
- Activity guide
Learning Resources publishes 20 chunky plastic blocks, 20 activity cards, four shapes across three attributes, an activity guide, no batteries, rated 5+.
It is a good game for several children of different ages. As a single-player travel puzzle it is the wrong shape entirely — twenty cards against 120 challenges, and the format wants somebody to play with.
Replay signal
- Open-ended or one-shot
- The 20 cards end; the blocks then work for free pattern and copy games
- Does anything run out
- Nothing runs out
- Room to grow
- An adult can invent harder arrangements indefinitely — the cards are a starting ladder
Why we say so: Learning Resources publishes 20 blocks and 20 activity cards across four shapes and three attributes. Attributes are the point: sorting by shape, then by color, then by both at once is the first properly logical thing a five-year-old does with a toy.
What’s wrong with it
Only 20 activity cards, which is a short ladder for one child alone.
| Blocks | 20 chunky plastic blocks |

We are not putting a buy button on this one. It is easy enough to find if you want it anyway — but we would rather send you to something that gets played with twice.
Questions people actually ask
Frequently asked
How many challenges are in IQ Puzzler Pro?
SmartGames publishes 120, spanning both 2D and 3D modes with 12 puzzle pieces. The two modes are genuinely different problems — flat challenges are about tiling, pyramid challenges add a third axis and are noticeably harder.
What age is IQ Puzzler Pro for?
SmartGames publishes 6 to adult. That upper bound is unusually honest — the later challenges are genuinely hard, and most manufacturers would have printed a child-only range instead.
Does IQ Puzzler Pro come with solutions?
Yes, a challenge booklet with solutions is published as included. That matters more than it sounds: a child who gets stuck on a hard challenge with no adult who can help will otherwise put the box away for good.
Is IQ Puzzler Pro good for travel?
It is built for it. The compact board has a transparent lid and doubles as the case, so a half-finished puzzle survives being closed and reopened, and nothing needs laying out on a table. Small STEM gifts that travel.
