Why the consumables column matters most

Every product on this site carries a Replay Signal, and one of its four checks is whether anything runs out. It turns out to be the best environmental test available to a buyer too. Worth knowing before you buy

Natural or recycled materials do not change a toy’s age rating. KEVA is published at 5+, Lincoln Logs at 3+ and Quadrilla at 4+, and marbles are a small-parts hazard in any material.

Do not judge a toy by its label

A green-looking box says very little. The most useful environmental question about a STEM toy is the same one this whole site asks: will it still be played with next year? A set of KEVA planks that is, beats a recycled-cardboard kit that is used once.
