Where indi wins

It starts a year earlier. Sphero publishes 4+, Botley 5+. Laying colored cards on a floor needs no reading and no memory for a sequence.

It has somewhere to go. The optional Sphero Edu Jr block coding on the same robot is a published upgrade path Botley does not have. Botley is excellent and it ends where it ends.

It never needs AAA cells. Rechargeable over USB removes the most common reason a coding robot sits unused.

Where Botley wins

The ceiling. A published 150-step maximum is the highest figure of any screen-free robot on this site, and it means the robot never becomes the constraint.

Worth knowing before you buy
