The shared-device problem
This is the practical issue that decides most households, and it is rarely said plainly.
A device-dependent toy competes with everything else on that device and with everyone else who wants it. In a household with one iPad and two children, a coding kit is third in a queue before it has done anything.
A screen-free robot competes with nothing. That asymmetry, not any philosophy about screens, is why Botley wins in most homes.
Where Osmo genuinely wins
